Conditions Treated by Massage
Don’t let an injury, stress or pain and discomfort slow you down. Massage therapy can help your body perform at its best. After a brief consultation and assessment, Alison can recommend a specific treatment to help you.
Massage is effective in treating many conditions and the following are some examples:
• Muscle and joint problems such as:
| Sprains | Strains |
| Bruises | Swelling |
| Neck | Back pain |
| Whiplash | Tendonitis |
| Bursitis | Sciatica |
| Knee Pain | Thoracic Outlet Syndrome |
| Frozen Shoulder | TMJ Dysfunction |
| Carpal Tunnel Syndrome | Degenerative Disc Disease |
| Sacroiliac (SI) | Joint Dysfunction |
| Plantar Fascitis | Shoulder pain |
• Postural Imbalances such as rounded shoulders, scoliosis, patellofemoral problems or piriformis syndrome.
• Headaches and migraines as well as fatigue and insomnia.
• Scar treatment post-injury (e.g. ligament rehabilitation, burns, lacerations) and post-surgery (e.g. joint replacement, ligament or cartilage repair, appendectomy, cesarean section, breast reduction). Treatment helps stretch the scar and break down adhesions in order to restore normal movement and function.
• Chronic illnesses, such as diabetes, fibromyalgia, arthritis, asthma, MS, Parkinson’s, or cancer. Although massage does not treat the disease directly, it can reduce some of the symptoms associated with the disease or treatment. Stress reduction, relaxation and increased circulation help to support the immune system’s ability to function and the body’s own ability to heal.
